Ed Ready Testing at Seattle Area Pipe Trades

What is Ed Ready?

Ed Ready is a FREE, online math test that measures an applicant's readiness for Apprenticeship.  It is one of three options you have to demonstrate your math competency in your application.  Test units include these competencies:

  • Whole numbers
  • Fractions
  • Decimals
  • Percentages
  • Pre-Algebra
  • Geometry
  • Factors
  • Ratios

How do I take the test?

Tests are proctored on Tuesdays at 2pm at the Seattle Area Pipe Trades Apprenticeship Center.  You must schedule a slot to take the test - we do not take walk-ins.   The test is approximately 2 hours and conducted in our computer lab.   You may not use a calculator or a cell phone during the test, but scratch paper and pencils are provided.

To schedule a test, please call 425.271.5900 or visit our main office.

What if I don't pass the test?

At the end of the test, you will get an automatic score on your screen.  It must be 80 or better to be considered a passing score.  If it is lower than 80, the test proctor may make some recommendations:

  • You may be given a practice key, so you can use Ed Ready at home and brush up on your math skills
  • You may be encouraged to consider a math class at Renton Technical College
  • You may be told to reschedule a retake test (no earlier than 2 weeks from the initial test)
  • You may be encouraged to take the ASSET test instead of Ed Ready

Can I complete the rest of my application before taking the test?

You can, but we recommend that you do the non-DOT 5-panel Urinalysis test LAST, as the test results are only good for 15 days.  You will want all of the other information, including your passing Ed Ready test score, compiled to submit to our office.  You will not get the paper application until we have all the minimum qualifications turned in.
