Requirements and Procedures:

When: Applicant must obtain the application IN PERSON. Mon.- Fri. 8:30am - 4:30pm, closed 12:00noon - 1:00pm

Where: Applications are available at 595 Monster Rd. SW, Renton, WA. 98055

Returning: Applicant must return (by mail or in person) the completed application, along with high school transcripts or GED test scores, a copy of your Washington State Drivers License, a copy of your Social Security Card (or Alien registration card) and the results of an ASSET or COMPASS test to 595 Monster Rd. SW., Renton, WA 98055, within 60 days.

Testing: After picking up an application the applicant will be given instructions on how to take the ASSET or COMPASS test administered by the local community or technical college. After completing the ASSET or COMPASS test the applicant must provide the results of the test to the apprenticeship office. He/she will then be scheduled for a hands-on test. Note: ASSET and COMPASS test scores for the housing plumber apprenticeship are advisory, no minimum scores are required.

Minimum Scores:
Test Writing Reading Numerical (Pre-algebra)
COMPASS 23 70 50
ASSET 35 38 42

Interview: After completing both the ASSET test and the hands-on test, the top 50 applicants will be interviewed. Interviews will be at least twice yearly.

Age: Applicant must be l8 years of age or older.

Education: High school graduate or have passed the high school equivalency test (GED), prior to making application.

Residency: Must be a resident of one of the following counties; King, Clallam, Jefferson, Chelan & Okanogan Counties western one-half of Douglas County, western one-half of Ferry County.

Physical: Applicant must be physically capable of performing the work of the trade.

Other: ALL APPRENTICESHIP APPLICANTS MUST HAVE A VALID WA STATE DRIVERS LICENSE. All apprentice applicants must complete a substance abuse test provided by the Apprenticeship Committee with negative results. Each applicant is to select ONE of the classifications by marking the box which indicates the applicant choice of trade.
